We have notification from the examining board at the RAD that our ballet exams due on Friday have been cancelled.
Wednesday’s exam coaching will therefore not go ahead.
Please read the following statement from the examination board:
Dear teacher and candidates,
We are writing to tell you that the Executive Board met this morning for an emergency meeting regarding the status of our worldwide examination tours.
The safety of our teachers, candidates, parents, examiners and RAD staff is paramount.
Due to the escalation of the COVID-19 coronavirus worldwide, and the additional government directives on travel, school closures and public gatherings the Royal Academy of Dance is suspending examiner travel from Wednesday 18 March, until 30 April 2020. Therefore an examiner will not be travelling to your examination.
This will affect many teachers and candidates taking their examinations, and it is not a decision we are making lightly.
We will honour all examinations entries that have been made in good faith, and we will be working to allow these examinations to go ahead, with a mixture of postponement and reorganization, as well as potentially filming some assessments to be sent for marking to our Panel of Examiners. Please do let us know if you would be interested in filming your exams.
We need to support our teachers and our candidates, but we can only do this in any sensible way if we are following best government and health practice, and when we are fully happy that it is safe for our candidates to be able to take their examination.
We will review the examiner travel policy towards the end of April, when we hope that the COVID-19 outbreak will be under control. We will then start to reorganise our examination sessions for the latter part of the year.
We are sorry that this will mean that your candidates may not take their examination as planned. We will be in touch as soon as possible to look at how we can reorganise your examination day.

We continue to keep Tozer Studios open for normal classes and consistency of training for our students. All precautions are very much in place & we urge our students to follow guidelines of washing hands regularly for 20 seconds & keep suitable distance from each other in the studios.
I will update you if the government guidelines change.
